Why Not Just Sublimation?

Why Not Just Sublimation?

dry-iceOn Tuesday I wrote a post announcing that EnMart had added Sublimation and Chromablast supplies to our inventory.   As I was finishing the post, a colleague came into the room and noticed the post title on my computer screen.  He immediately pointed out my error, or at least what he thought was my error.  Why say Sublimation and Chromablast, he asked.    After all, they’re the same thing, aren’t they?

For those who may not know the difference between sublimation and Chromablast, I thought I’d take a few minutes to explain.  The main fact I need to tell you is that the two processes are not the same thing.   Sublimation is the process by which a solid converts to a gas without first going through a liquid state.  The example of sublimation that most people would be familiar with would be dry ice.

Sublimation as a printing method can be used only on polyester and polymer coated items.  When sublimation inks are heated to 400 degrees F they turn to gas and form a permanent bond with the polyester fibers.   The garment or item is actually dyed and the color will not peel, crack or wash away.

By contrast, Chromablast is used on cotton garments and items.  It uses a chemical reaction between the ink and the cotton substrate to create a nearly permanent bond.   Unlike sublimation ink, Chromablast ink does not pass directly from a solid to a gaseous state.   Heat and pressure are used to transfer the ink from the printed transfer to the cotton item to be imprinted.   Chromablast can be used on any cotton item that can withstand the heat of a heat press.

Where both Sublimation and Chromablast are alike is in the fact that both are great ways to expand your business and offer more decorated products and garments to your customers.  Sublimation and Chromablast have relatively low start-up costs, few barriers to entry, and it is generally easy to set up and run a sublimation or Chromablast system.

If you are thinking of purchasing a Chromablast or Sublimation system, EnMart will be happy to advise you on your purchase.  We also offer a complete line of Sublimation and Chromablast supplies and inks.

The Letter of the Law

justiceEvery store that sells things most likely has at least one agreement with a manufacturer by which they must abide.  Maybe they agree to only sell certain items.  Perhaps they agree not to sell certain products so as not to compete with other distributors.  Before the first item is sold, the manufacturer and the distributors sit down and work out who can sell what, to whom and when, so that all parties completely understand how the business should operate.  It’s the smart way to build relationships and the honest way to do business.

When Hilos Iris, the manufacturer of Iris Thread, and EnMart formed a partnership,  there was really only one main limitation.  We agreed our customer base would  come from the commercial embroidery community.  If you had a business and a tax ID number, we’d love to sell you all the thread you wanted to buy.  If you were a home sewer,  however, our agreement prohibited us from selling you thread.  That was the agreement we reached, and the one by which we abide.

In order to make sure that we are keeping within the boundaries of our agreement, we call all first time customers who purchase mini cones of Iris thread from us to ensure that they have the necessary Tax ID number and that we can sell to them without violating the agreement that has been made.   If you order from us, you’ll only receive a call the first time you order.  This requirement also won’t impede the order process in any way.  It’s simply one quick phone call that allows us to make sure we’re living up to the promises we made.

After all, you wouldn’t want to do business with a company that did any thing else.

May Specials From EnMart

blackwhitebobbinskit-smallThis May, EnMart is all about the bobbins.  Our Style L HI-10 Bobbins specifically.  We know these bobbins are great because our parent company uses them in all of our plants.   Since our five plants turn out a lot of direct embroidery and embroidered blanks in the course of a year,  we’ve had ample opportunity to test these bobbins.  Believe me, if they weren’t up to our standards, our operators would be letting us know.

This May we have created two special offers involving our bobbins.  The first involves just the bobbins themselves.  In May, you can get a box of our white Hi-10 Style L Filament Polyester Bobbins (144/box) for just $20.95 per box.  That’s a savings of $6.00 off the regular price.    If you want to buy in bulk, you can purchase 12 boxes for the low price of $251.40, which is $39.60 off the regular bulk price.   This special will only last through the end of May, so take advantage of these great prices on our Hi-10 Bobbins now.

Our second special involves our Hi-10 Bobbins and our Iris Polyester Thread. This combination is part of our BASICS series.  The BASICS Series is a group of kits designed for those who are starting out with embroidery, or who need some simple items at reasonable prices.  Our first kit includes our Hi-10 bobbins and one 5500 yard cone each of our Iris polyester thread in black and white.   Buying these items together brings you a 17% discount off the cost of buying each item separately.  This is a great opportunity to stock up on the basics, thread and bobbins, which every machine embroiderer needs.   This special also ends when May ends, so stock up on our Starter Kit #1 while there’s still time.

Popular New Year’s Resolutions

(This week I thought we’d revisit some posts that have appeared on this blog over the past year.  I know we get new readers often, so I thought I’d point out some posts I thought shouldn’t be missed.  This post about New Year’s resolutions first appeared in January of 2008.)

Almost everyone I know makes at least one resolution every New Years Day.  Some of the most common resolutions for business owners are about things like controlling cost, getting more organized, or taking more time for family and friends.  The New Year is always a good time to take a step back and determine how you could be more efficient and more effective.

Today, I wanted to tell you how EnMart can help you keep the resolutions you made this New Years Day.  Suppose your resolution was to be more organized.   Our thread kits with metal racks are a great way to keep your thread organized and within easy reach.  We also offer a polyester thread chart which will allow you to match colors before you buy, ensuring that your thread inventory only contains colors you know you will use.

Perhaps your resolution for 2008 was to open new avenues for your business.  Our Ntrans Screenprint Transfers allow you to offer screenprinted garments to your customers without purchasing any additional screenprinting equipment, beyond a heat press, should you not already have one.   Ntrans transfers are very easy to apply and can be designed in a variety of sizes and colors.

Some people make New Years resolutions regarding upgrading their equipment or establishing a stricter maintenance schedule.  It is a proven fact that equipment that is well maintained will last longer and perform more efficiently.  If you want to put your equipment on a stricter maintenance schedule, EnMart can supply the accessories and tools necessary to get the job done.

A lot of business people make resolutions regarding controlling costs.  EnMart offers some of the most cost effective products available in the marketplace.  Combine our reasonable prices with our quick turn around times, our stellar customer service, and our record for on-time delivery, and you’ll quickly see how EnMart can help you control costs and save time in 2008.

Whatever your New Years resolution for 2008, our resolution is to do everything we can to keep our customers happy and coming back.  If you have any suggestions for blog post topics, products we might want to consider, or just comments on how we’re doing, please feel free to contact us.  We always love to hear from our customers.

Two Ways to Get to the EnMart Store

For those of you who may not have seen it yet, I just wanted to point out that there are now two ways to get to the EnMart store.  The first way is the method we’ve always used.   If you visit the front page of the EnMart website, you’ll see a yellow icon with a shopping cart on it on the right-hand side of your screen.  Clicking this icon, which convieniently says “Click Here to Shop EnMart” will take you to the EnMart store.

We have also added a new way to get to the store.  You can now go directly to the store by using this URL:  http://store.myenmart.com.    This URL will take you directly to the store and will bypass the informational portion of the site.  If you’re in a time crunch and need to make your purchases quickly, using this URL will save you time.

EnMart November Specials

Everyone likes to save money and, in today’s economic climate, no one has money to burn.  In order to help our customers control costs and stretch their budgets as far as possible EnMart has designated November as Special Offer Month.  Rather than run one special the entire month, we’re going to offer different specials each week.  Some may run for the entire month, and some will run only for a week or so.

These specials will not be announced on the EnMart website.  They will only be announced through EnMart e-mails.  If you are currently on our mailing list, November is a good month to make sure you’re reading any e-mails you get from us.  If you’re not on the list, now would be a good time to ask to be added.  Getting added to the list is very simple.  Just  e-mail us and ask that your address be added to our mailing list.  It’s that easy.

Please keep in mind that EnMart products, even when not part of a special offer are priced very competitively.  We’re confident that, in most cases, comparing prices for the items that EnMart offers with the prices you’re paying to your current supplier for those same items will allow you to see that EnMart prices are less expensive.  Saving money is a priority for the majority of business owners right now,  so we hope you take a moment to investigate what EnMart can do for your business.

The first special will be announced by e-mail on Thursday, November 6.  If you’re not currently on our mailing list, there’s still time to get your e-mail added.

What’s the Best Incentive?

The EnMart store has been open for business for about a year.  In that time we’ve offered a variety of specials and sales to our customers.  Sometimes it was a percentage off the price of a particular item or category of items.  Other times it was free shipping.  Occasionally it was a combination of the two.   I guess you could say we’ve been experimenting.

Obviously, we think the best reason to buy what we sell is because we offer great products.  Our Iris thread is one of the last true 40 weight threads available.   Our blank patches are made by a company(our parent company) with 34 years of experience in making patches and emblems.   EnMart Ntrans screenprint transfers are unique and were created in house by a screenprint expert with over 30 years of screenprinting experience.  Our prices are also very competitive.  So, if you’re simply comparing feature for feature, EnMart products are clearly a good buy.

We do understand, however, that for some people the thought of changing suppliers can be daunting.  In those cases, a little bit of extra incentive might be what tips the balance.  The question is what sort of offer will be the most motivating.  Is it a sale on a product?  Is it free shipping?  Is it buy one get one free?

I’d love to know what our customers are looking for in a sale or special and what sort of offers you all find most motivating.  If you have any thoughts on this question, please leave a comment on this post or e-mail me with your thoughts.

Visit the EnMart Store

If you visit www.myenmart. com the first thing you see is a lot of information about our company and our products.  Obviously we’d like you to read all that information, it’s good stuff and an entertaining read, and I’m not just saying that because I wrote it.   We do, however, realize that there are times when you just want to make a purchase and get on with your day.  That’s why every page of the site has the “Shop EnMart button” on the righthand side of the screen.  It’s a yellow button with a blue shopping cart and the words “Shop EnMart” in it.  If you click that button you’ll be taken directly to the EnMart store.

The EnMart store is the area where you can place your order.   Whether you want thread or  bobbins or backing, you can find what you need in the EnMart store. This is also where you can find blank patches and our Ntrans screenprint transfers.   We’ve recently updated our blank patch ordering section to include non-standard colors.  Whether you want a white patch with black merrow or a brown patch with orange merrow, you can place your order through the EnMart store.

The EnMart store is also the place to find information about our products.  Each product section contains information about the product category in general.  Almost all the individual product listings include information specific to that product and a picture.   You can also feel free to contact our CSRs at any time during the order process should you have any questions.

Placing an order through our website is really very simple.  First, if you’re coming from the informational portion of the site, click the yellow “Shop EnMart” button.  This will take you to the store.  Next, select the products you want to order.  Click the “Add to Cart” button to add items to your cart.  Once you’ve made your selections, simply go to the cart, add your credit card and address information and checkout.  It’s that easy.

MSDS Sheets

Many businesses today require MSDS sheets for any chemicals or sprays that are being used in their shops or on the production floor.  MSDS sheets are required by many companies because they are the best and easiest way to alert employees to hazards and to help insure that employees handle materials that could potentially be hazardous in the safest way possible.

EnMart has created a repository on our web site for all the MSDS sheets we have available at this time.  As we add new products, or gain access to new MSDS information, that information will be added to our site.  At present, MSDS sheets for our Sprayway products  and our Zoomspout Oiler are available in PDF form for download.  You can find the MSDS Sheets here.

If you have any questions about the MSDS sheets or any of the products we offer, please feel free to contact us.  We’ll be happy to help in any way we can.
